First-cycle degrees
First-cycle degree courses (Laurea) provide students with basic theoretical preparation and an adequate command of general scientific methods and contents, in addition to the acquisition of specific professional know-how.
They require 180 ECTS credits, which can generally be accumulated within 3 years, and graduates are awarded the qualification of Dottore.
The corresponding qualification both in English-speaking countries and in the European Higher Education Area is a Bachelor's degree.
